Fuel Source

Charcoal is predominately used as a source of clean energy and competes with coals, natural gas, LPG and petroleum products. Charcoal is also used as a metallurgical reductant and the manufacture of silicon chips requires considerable amounts of high grade charcoal. Activated Carbon is another product with premium value.
World production of charcoal is 35-50 million tonnes per annum and growing at over 1% per annum. But at the same time the forests which supply the traditional raw material base are being seriously depleted. Out of necessitation, governments are legislating to restrict supply. Environmentalists are pressuring against the use of natural forests and this further constricts supplies for domestic and industrial use.
Charcoal produced from Biomass residues can fill some of the shortfall in supply. Agricultural wastes and green wastes are all suitable alternatives as raw materials.
Eco-Carbons Pty Ltd has the technology by producing charcoals not only as fuel, but has discovered other innovative applications. This adds considerable value to waste and seconds, utilizing cereals, nut shells, fruit stones, dust, straw and husks all of which are replenishable, renewable and environmentally friendly.
The process to produce these charcoals creates surplus energy to make the process self sustaining.
BBQ Beads
The most popular barbeque fuel beads are derived from toxic coal dust bound with an industrial starch. They are dirty to handle leaving considerable residue ash. Coal possesses many toxins and when burnt releases them into the environment and are adsorbed by the food being cooked.
Research conducted on Eco Carbon Beads has proven that the beads:
- Are far safer to use and handle
- Have a higher calorific value
- Have faster cooking times
- Are 30% reusable
- Are competitively priced
- Contain only organic and replenishable raw materials
